How is your computer performing?
Every work PC has limited resources.
As a result, if you are using larger files and running more apps and programs than your CPU (central processing unit), RAM (random-access memory) and disk drive can cope with, your device will slow down.
To find out how well your computer is performing, a good way is by using Task Manager. Read on to learn more.
Opening and reading Task Manager
To find out how much of your PC’s resources you’re using, you can open Task Manager by searching in the Start menu, or pressing Ctrl, Alt and Delete at the same time with your keyboard.
Once the Task Manager window loads, select the tab labelled “Performance”.
In the left-side column, you’ll see a list of resource components with a percentage showing how much of the resource is currently being utilised.
Are you using too many of your resources?
If you discover you are employing over 80 per cent of your disk space, RAM and CPU consistently, your PC is storing or running more apps and data than it can manage.
Purchasing additional RAM or an extra storage disk drive, or simply freeing up space by deleting unused files and apps, can help.
You can also use your Task Manager to give your PC a speed boost by identifying programmes running that you don’t require immediately, and closing them.
