Enhanced router to launch in UK
Telecoms leader EE is expected to soon launch a new router offering improved connectivity and faster speeds.
While the BT-owned company is renowned for its UK-based mobile network, it is now moving beyond its call and data packages, with broadband to become a key area of its future offering.
A Wi-Fi 7-type router is set for an undisclosed but imminent launch date, designed to provide consumers with considerable boost by allowing far faster speeds, even when multiple devices are connected.
The name touted for the new equipment from EE is the “Smart Hub Pro”. A compact and complete internet hub it is set to roll out alongside the firm’s “Smart Wi-Fi Pro” that extends the signal reach around the premises where it is used. The devices work in tandem to deliver parity in terms of user experience, regardless of where in the building they are located in.
At present, EE is already offering its customers a service with impressive download speeds of over one gigabyte per second, but its new product is designed to future-proof internet connections and ensure users stay in step with the ever-increasing speeds likely to become available.
The design of the hubs have recently been glimpsed by the press, and show a futuristic look and feel to help them blend seamlessly with modern environments.
While currently no precise release date nor price has been fixed by EE for its Smart Hub Pro, experts state that customers will likely get a chance to sign up for one before the end of 2024. However, in terms of costs, the new router is a premium solution from the company, and will likely be priced accordingly.
