UK non-profit simplifies switching broadband
Making the move to use a new broadband service provider in Britain has historically been the cause of much hassle.
Often, the process can take up to 10 working days, and in that time, users must contend with countless emails, texts and telephone calls from the supplier they are leaving, who will try to convince them to stay with marginally beneficial deals.
However, broadband users based in the UK could soon find swapping to a new service provider a much easier task to navigate. A not-for-profit organisation called The One Touch Switching Company, or TOTSCo for short, has now established a new messaging platform for users, dubbed the TOTSCo Hub.
The messaging platform is designed to convey customer information and other relevant details about UK broadband service providers. A key feature of the new hub, which will streamline the process, is that it makes switching with a single touch a reality. Whether users are supplied broadband by a provider employing the BT-owned Openreach network, or one of the nation’s independent fibre networks like Hyperoptic or Virgin, the platform will enable a switch in 24 hours.
Furthermore, if users experience a connection loss of over a day when switching, they are entitled to claim financial compensation.
The TOTSCo Hub is now in place for UK broadband providers that use Openreach’s network. Users can request to switch, and their newly chosen provider will manage the entire process. TOTSCo has stated that one touch switching will be available through all service providers from today (Thursday, 12th September).
