Supply deal aids FTTP rollout in UK

Digital Infrastructure, the UK network operator supported by the broadband internet service provider (ISP) BeFibre, recently announced that it has signed a brand-new multi-year partnership with the international supply chain solutions company Westco Anixter.

The new agreement is designed to support the operator’s ongoing nationwide rollout of an all-new fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network capable of gigabit speeds.

Headquartered in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside started its rollout back in 2021 and now aims to cover a total of one million businesses and homes across 80 cities and towns in the UK before 2028. To date it has drafted an initial rollout plan which will see it reach 400,000 UK premises. However, regarding actual build, Digital Infrastructure has stated that as of last month it has provided for 100,000 premises.

CEO for BeFibre and Digital Infrastructure and BeFibre, Paul Doyle, commented:

“As we continue to scale at pace, our partnership with Wesco Anixter will enable us to strategically expand our full fibre rollout with their end-to-end supply chain expertise as well being able to offer us the right product at the right time.”

Under the new agreement, Wesco Anixter will deliver management expertise of end-to-end supply chains, along with passive infrastructure provisioning, cost-effective rollout, inventory control, strategic sourcing and delivery of installation materials required for the initiative.

BeFibre will also be receiving aid from Wesco Anixter under the new agreement, enabling the firm to focus on the last mile of delivery, alongside customer uptake of the extended network.
