Scottish city to get mobile broadband boost

Leading telecoms company Virgin Media O2 recently finished enhancement on its Aberdeen mobile network.

The substantial upgrade represents a significant investment to improve connectivity in the port city in Scotland. Working on the update throughout the year, the network provider has boosted services and signal strength for business and residential customers, allowing access to speedier and more dependable mobile broadband.

With more enterprise professionals communicating and using internet services for business processes via smartphone than ever before, high-quality mobile broadband has become a necessity for success.

The newly enhanced network has 4G and 5G capability, driving enhanced mobile connectivity to make it easier for those in Aberdeen to work remotely, use essential online services, keep connected with colleagues and upload and download content without delay.

The updates are part of a wider network upgrade strategy for Virgin Media O2. The telecoms operator is now investing £2 million every day in its efforts to future-proof its dedicated mobile network and answer the increasing demands from its customer base seeking seamless internet connectivity.

Virgin Media O2 Director for Mobile Delivery, Steven Verigotta, commented:

“With customers using more data than ever before, the improvements we’ve made at over 600 postcodes in Aberdeen will ensure local people and businesses can access reliable connectivity that is so essential in the modern world.”

The news comes at a time when the company is facing rising demand for mobile broadband use. Statistics show that mobile data used by O2 customers increased by 26 per cent last year.
