Oxfordshire ISP enjoys service uptake in Yorkshire town

Zzoomm, the Oxfordshire-based alternative network delivering full fibre to businesses and homes in the UK, recently announced success in northern England’s Yorkshire.

The internet service provider (ISP), which currently covers over 200,000 premises throughout the UK with 2 gigabit per second Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband, has reported that it has experienced 20 per cent participation in the Yorkshire town of Northallerton.

Considering that the service has only been offered locally for just under 20 months, the warm reception marks a considerable achievement for the ISP.

CEO for Zzoomm, Matthew Hare, commented:

“We continue to see new customers taking up our high value offer at market leading rates in market towns like Northallerton. To have secured a 20% market share is a testament to our premier service and our marketing and sales team.”

Currently, Zzoomm’s network has approximately 30,000 customers and is available in 29 smaller urban communities and market towns in places like Wiltshire, Berkshire, Yorkshire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire and the ISP’s home base of Oxfordshire.

Originally, the network operator aimed to provide coverage for one million premises spread over 85 towns in the UK by the latter half of next year. However, problems regarding raising adequate capital drove its network build efforts to halt. It is still considering potential expansion through mergers.

The deployment of gigabit-capable broadband in Northallerton, which has a present population of about 16,000, was first mentioned in July 2021. At the time, Zzoomm’s efforts had seen it already start to construct its network to reach neighbouring North Yorkshire towns like Easingwold and Thirsk.
