How weak Wi-Fi impacts SMEs

Poor internet connectivity is a common issue for many companies. However, having fast Wi-Fi you can count on is now a business-critical requirement in our digital age.

Firms require connectivity for fast loading websites, online researching, communicating with customers via chat apps and email, and with colleagues using secure calls and video conferencing. However, a reliable and speedy connection is also necessary to run software subscriptions like Microsoft Office, or download and upload data to secure storage in the cloud.

Research commissioned by telecoms giant Three discovered that problems with poor connectivity cost small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK over £18 billion each year.

The study also found that British SMEs and micro businesses that issued employees’ work smartphones lost out on more than one hour of working time per employee each week. Poor connectivity levels led to staff being incapable of getting online or struggling to complete tasks effectively.

While losing an hour a week for every employee might not sound serious on the surface for an SME, this can equate to more than 250 hours of work time being lost each week. Poor connectivity can also see companies fail to compete with others in their field. When rivals can operate faster and more effectively, it encourages customers and clients to take their business to them.

With full fibre now being rolled out across the UK, better business broadband is in reach for more SMEs than ever before. However, many companies are unaware that they can access an improved service. Connect with us today at 127 Solutions for enhanced Wi-Fi at competitive rates.
